Okay, I'm just curious if someone could perhaps explain this to me since I find myself pretty confused. They say in Underworld that Viktor is the oldest and most powerful of them all, and yet in the mythology they say that the vampirism and lycanthropy started with Markus and WIlliam Corvinus, right? Then in Underworld: Evolution they reveal he was the second oldest vampire who became an elder, but that the oldest and most powerful vampire was Markus because he was the original vampire, correct? Unless I'm missing something. Now I don't know if this is a mistake or a plot hole, but here is my question, if anyone can please help me out it would be very appreciated.
If they knew in Underworld that Alexander Corvinus was the beginning of the immortality and his sons were the beginning of vampirism and lycanthropy, then how could they have still believed Viktor to be the oldest and strongest of them all? It says on here it was after he took over power from Markus he just became more controlling and took on this as a title of oldest and strongest, but that still doesn't make sense as to how or why the Coven actually believes it since they know Markus was the beginning of vampirism? How do the vampires in the coven rationalize or comprehend that Viktor is the strongest or oldest? Do they think he was born a vampire somehow? Even in Underworld it seems the mythology had been established. Markus would had to have been the most powerful though from the very beginning and everyone would have already known this, wouldn't they? It's almost as if, at least it seems to me, that they wrote this into Evolution to cover their tracks about a hole or glitch/mistake they realized was in the mythology. Perhaps the vampires were just so devoted to their masters and feeling like they held so much authority and power, they just believed whatever they said without thinking about it? I suppose that could be true with a cult-like mentality or something. But this left me seriously confused.
If anyone can provide me any answers and help me out I would really appreciate it, thanks so much.
