January?! What the heck! Filming for this movie finished in December of last year! You'd think they'd be done.
But this may be to release the movie in January like the all the other movies (aside from Underworld).

Really? Where? I guess that makes sense. Selene and Eve already have some type of bond that Eve has yet to explore with Michael, and they're both trying to find him, with Selene trying to reunite with him. IDK...
Yes, I think that’s right. The first few minutes of the film are set in 2012 or 2013, and the rest is in 2024 or 2025.
But all of the dates I’ve seen on this wiki assume that the events of Underworld occurred in 2003. I’m hesitant to make sweeping changes to the dates on the site when AlessaGillespie hasn’t commented on my theory...
I'm not so sure. I feel like it starts in 2003 and then transitions to 12 years later. But that's my opinion.

I tried to figure out a timeline for the 21st-century events we’ve seen so far, but I only got it narrowed down to two possibilities: I think that the events of Underworld took place either in October 2011 or October 2012. That would put the end of Awakening in 2024 or 2025. I wrote a blog post where I showed the excessive details.
Yeah! Sorry for the confusion. I own all the movies on bluray, but I did not get the ultimate collection or whatever it's called that has the anime short on it. I got them individually.
I thought the beginning of "Awakening" was set six months after Evolution. But after Selene wakes up, that's when 12 years have passed...?

No, you're not friend. I am too. I am a big Kate fan. We still don't know for sure if she isn't a main lead or if she is sharing the lead with Theo James.
It wasn't. I don't think. But I suspect that she won't be the main character in the sixth film.

Can you check the blu-ray to see if it gives years for Endless War? I found a video of it on YouTube, but Part 1 didn’t have a year on it. Part 2 said it was almost 70 years after Part 2, but the dates given on the wiki would put part 2 77 years after Part 1, i.e. almost 80 years.
Part 3 is “over half a century” after Part 2, so at least 51 years later. Also, the Purges had already started in Part 3. The cell phone that Michael uses is too modern to be dated to 2003.
Beyond that, I can’t find any dates anywhere. Does the Blu-ray say anything else?
Since I don't have the Anime short for Endless War, I borrowed it from a friend who happened to have it, as well as finding a good copy online and matched the dates up to it.
Part 1 says 1890, so it'd be over 70 years (77 years) until Part 2 starts. Part 2 starts in 1967 and Part 3 in 2012. So the gap between Parts 2 & 3 is only 45 years.
I hope Blood Wars turns out well, the Underworld series is my favorite series. Though "Awakening" was not the best in my opinion.
Anyone ever heard of Werewolf the Apocolypse. I liked how the werewolves in that game had multiple forms.

It’s disappointing, but it’s understandable. Selene will presumably look 30 years old for centuries, but Kate Beckinsale can only play a 30-year-old for so long. I had hoped that the series would switch to focusing on Eve, since her actress would be the correct age for the character for decades. Now it looks like that’s not going to happen either, since Eve apparently isn’t in Blood Wars. They can switch to following David, but he’s going to age too... I don’t see a long future for this series at this point.
You make a valid point. Especially if she's going to look too old to play Selene. That is why I thought they introduced Eve, to transition from Selene to her. Born Vampires (and I assume hybrids) continue to age until their mid-late twenties? Right? So Eve would have been the right choice since she is (technically, since India was 18) 12 years at the time of Awakening. So as she aged, so did Eve.
I'm upset that Selene won't be the main character in the sixth film as well.

survive the bite of a Lycan Marcus was protected at all costs.

I think its because Viktor kept Marcus out of the line of fire, and you didn't misunderstand. Marcus and William were born with the active form of the Corvinus Strain.
Oh okay. Thanks! You're probably right. I always just assumed it was to keep him safe from "dying" because if he dies, all vampires die. But that has been shown to me as NOT being the case.
I wonder how William would be if he was a hybrid. He would be a Lycan dominant-Vampire Hybrid, no?
Well ok if you want. In the modern era, when Viktor killed Singe by breaking his neck, Singe's blood leaked into the crypt were Marcus was in hibernation. When he ingested the Lycan blood it woke him up, and made him a Vampire dominant Vampire Lycan hybrid, as shown by his eyes turning solid black after opening. This was only possible due to Marcus being a descendent of Alexander Corvinus.
I wonder how Marcus has avoided being bitten by a Lycan all the years he's been alive, since the Corvinus strain was active within him. Or did I misunderstand?
Speaking of watching in order of the timeline, I tried to figure out how to watch the films in chronological order and wrote this (the “Chronological order” section). I think it’s accurate, but I’m no expert. I haven’t watched the films in that order yet.

Thank you for saying it! I was not a fan of Selene restarting his heart, nor do I understand how she did it. Was her blood exposed?
The wiki article for David says that Selene put her own hybrid blood directly into his heart, which revived him. She must have bit her wrist first to make her blood mix with his. I can’t find my DVD at the moment, so I can’t check.
I guess it almost makes sense, but I wish they had done that scene differently.
I have the movie on BluRay, but I haven't had the chance to rewatch it, since I've only seen the movie once in theaters and then once when I received the disc. I'm currently trying to rewatch the movies in order of the timeline and I'm currently on Rise of the Lycans. Once I rewatch Awakening, I'll post what I see.

Sounds right, but I thought the first movie was only about a couple days, and the second movie as well, a couple of days? Or am I incorrect on how time flies in the movies? Also, can you explain how Endless War is in between Evolution and Awakening? I haven't seen the anime short.
If I had to guess, I’d say the first two movies took a couple weeks total. I was just saying that I think they took absolutely no longer than a few months, no matter how many days of downtime they skipped in between scenes. For purposes of figuring on what year everything happened, I’d say the first two movies happened in the same year, or right at the end of one year and the start of the next. Maybe we could even figure out what time of year it was from the way people are dressed, but I haven’t tried to do that.
I haven’t seen Endless War either. I’m just going by what the wiki article says about it. If Selene and Michael are hybrids in part 3 and the Purges haven’t started, then that would place part 3 in the six-month period between Evolution and Awakening. And Endless War itself apparently dates part 3 to 2012. That would mean that the first two films occur sometime between 2011 and 2013.
As for how long the movies took, the only example I can think of in the first one is when Lucian said that full moon was a few days away. And in the second movie, they were out doing a lot of different things, going to see Alexander, flying to the old castle, etc., and it seems like it’s hardly ever daytime. I’m guessing that they stopped to wait out the day at least once or twice during the movie in between scenes.
Thank you for explaining. I'm going to have to watch the anime short to be sure. It is a little confusing because, as you said, the short says one year, and the timeline says another timeframe.
