The AKM is a 7.62×39mm assault rifle designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. It is a common modernized variant of the AK-47 rifle developed in the 1940s. The weapon is briefly seen in Underworld.

During the scene when Selene is discussing with Kraven and Kahn about the likely-hood of there being a new Lycan den, it cuts to a gun rack, where several AKMs can be seen. Several AKMs are also seen in the Lycan den, being passed around among the Lycans as they prepare for combat with the Vampires. It is possible some of these may be milled receiver Norinco Type 56 rifles.
