Silver Bullets, (also known as AG rounds), are a type of ammunition that is effective against Lycans and Werewolves. These bullets are the modern form of weapons against Lycanthropic species, with silver-plated swords and silver crossbow bolts previously being used.
Silver bullets are the standard ammunition of Vampire Death Dealers, who load their firearms with them. When a Lycan is shot with a silver bullet, their bodies are unable to heal the wound naturally due to their extreme allergy to silver and, if they are shot with enough bullets, they eventually die from the trauma. A few Lycans are old enough and powerful enough to force silver bullets out of their bodies. However, these Lycans are few and far between.
These bullets have no effect on other types of Immortals, such as Vampires and Hybrids.
As shown in the first installment, the next generation of silver bullets are the Silver Nitrate Bullets, developed by Kahn, after having gotten the idea from the Lycans' Ultraviolet ammunition.
Underworld[]
The Vampires use silver bullets almost entirely throughout the first Underworld film. In the subway station, Selene is able to shoot Trix with a silver bullet, which he later digs out. Notably, Trix's hand burns and his blood smokes as he holds the bullet, the silver-poisoning preventing him from changing into his Werewolf form. Trix and several other Lycans are killed with silver bullets throughout the film's events.
Underworld: Evolution[]
Selene starts out the film with silver bullets, which she attempts to use on Marcus Corvinus, to no effect. She later refills her guns with ultraviolet ammunition and uses that throughout the rest of the film.
Underworld: Awakening[]
During the final attack on Antigen Headquarters, Detective Sebastian wields a revolver loaded with silver bullets. In an attempt to stop Doctor Jacob Lane from escaping with Eve, Detective Sebastian shoots out the driver's side tire of his van, followed by the Lycan driver. Detective Sebastian kills the driver with a silver bullet to the head but fails to stop Lane from escaping. After Selene knocks the van over, Detective Sebastian shoots Lane several times with silver bullets but due to Lane's status as a Hybrid, he is immune.
Throughout the film, Selene wields guns armed with silver bullets against the Lycans as do several Vampires during the attack on Thomas's Coven. David later uses a shotgun equipped with silver ammunition against Lycans at Antigen.
